Beckons Receives 2026 Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award, Recognized as a Pioneer in Regenerative Luxury Travel

New experiential luxury hospitality brand, Beckons, sets a new benchmark for regenerative luxury and conscious exploration on a global scale.

Denver, CO (April 7, 2026) – Beckons has been named a 2026 Global Vision Award Winner by Travel + Leisure, recognized as a leader in regenerative travel for its profound commitment to ecological and cultural stewardship across some of the world's most extraordinary destinations.

The Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award honors the industry's most dedicated pioneers of sustainable and eco-friendly travel, ensuring travelers explore the world whilst making a positive contribution to it.  Beckons - the new experiential luxury hospitality brand uniting the award-winning portfolios of Baillie Lodges and Tierra Hotels across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Chile - receives this honor in recognition of its regenerative approach to luxury travel, offering journeys of discovery for curious travelers seeking a deeper, more meaningful connection to the natural world.

At the heart of the Beckons ethos is a commitment that transcends traditional sustainability, seeking instead to cultivate a profound, positive impact on the landscapes, wildlife, and communities that define each destination.

“We are honored that Travel + Leisure has recognized the enduring sustainable legacy of Baillie Lodges with a 2026 Global Vision Award," stated Michael Crawford, CEO of Beckons. “As we evolve into this new chapter as Beckons, this accolade serves as a testament to our mission of creating deep, positive impacts within the world's most remarkable destinations. I am immensely proud of the Beckons teams, whose tireless devotion to environmental and cultural stewardship ensures that exploration remains a force for lasting global good."

At Australia's Longitude 131°, a First Nations Artists in Residence program facilitates a rare cultural exchange for guests with Indigenous Anangu artists from the remote community of Ernabella, part of a multi-faceted partnership that provides financial income for the community whilst helping to safekeep traditional arts, crafts, heritage and stories. Ernabella Arts is Australia's oldest continuously running Indigenous art centre and is located on the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the Northern Territory.

Kangaroo Island's Southern Ocean Lodge was rebuilt following the 2020 bushfires with a raft of design features designed to benefit the natural environment including were a sophisticated rainwater-capture system that  sees  all rainwater captured from the lodge roof harvested and stored for use, with a storage capacity of 5.8 million litres of portable water and alongside a  state-of-the-art sprinkler system providing remotely-activated fire protection. Meanwhile a significant hybrid solar and battery infrastructure allows the lodge to continuously run off-grid in its remote location , and the team cleared the surrounding landscape of flammable coast scrub, planting in its place some 50,000 hyper-local native succulents which had been propagated onsite - including the island's own native juniper – to create a natural fire-resistant 20-meter wilderness buffer zone and provide a welcoming habitat for native wildlife.

In Chile, Tierra Patagonia honors local craftsmanship by welcoming guests with wool slippers handcrafted by Chilote women. Through a collaboration with the Heritage Rescue and Sustainable Tourism Foundation, the lodge offers traditional activities, exhibitions and workshops designed to immerse guests in the local culture whilst ensuring the community's ancient heritage continues to thrive. Tierra Atacama, located in the Atacama Desert, was built on the site of a long-abandoned cattle corral and retains the ancient adobe mud brick walls of the original 150-year-old bull pen at its entrance. In 2024, Tierra Atacama underwent an extensive $20 million dollar renovation while preserving the original walls and native vegetation which have been integrated with the lodge.

Canada's Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge works with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the First Nations people of Ahousaht to enhance the natural environment and rehabilitate salmon-spawning habitats and restoring native stocks to the river systems. Salmon are crucial to biodiversity in the region. They act as a nutrient pump from ocean to land. Their carcasses provide vital nutrients including nitrogen to ecosystems, with research showing that up to 80 per cent of nutrients in coastal trees, such as Douglas fir and spruce, come from salmon. For the First Nations communities in the Pacific Northwest, salmon are central to cultural life and spiritual traditions, as well as providing essential food resources. Moreover, some 137 species of wildlife, including killer whales, bears, eagles and wolves, depend on salmon for sustenance, making the health of the salmon population directly related to the overall resilience of local ecosystems. In addition, the lodge unveiled the region's largest solar energy and battery microgrid on Vancouver Island in 2024, allowing the property to thrive largely off-grid, and returning the ancient forests and waterways to the sounds of nature.

These efforts across the portfolio underscore a brand-wide dedication to ecological and communal integrity, inviting guests to explore the world's most remarkable destinations with a deep, respectful connection to their origins.
